Illinois Tech's Shanie Scoles and Jennifer Young have been named the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference offensive and defensive players of the week for events of March 11-17, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Scoles (Mission Viejo, Calif.) scored a total of 12 goals and dished out two assists in a pair of Scarlet Hawks wins last week. The sophomore midfielder had a seven-goal, one-assist game in an 18-4 win over Monmouth College Wednesday, then lead the team with five goals and seven draw controls in Friday's 16-5 win over Concordia University Wisconsin.
Young (Leawood, Kan.) anchored Tech's defense with 11 ground balls and five caused turnovers in the two victories. The senior defender had seven ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers against Monmouth before helping Tech down CUW with four and three, respectively.
